JUSTIFY REBELLION – UNLEASHING THE BEAST (Target/Mighty Music Records)

Review by Meuris: Debut album of this Danish quartet…

You know Denmark is the place where Metallica’s  drummer comes from and Denmark has also brought us bands like Mercyful Fate and in more recent times gave us Volbeat. Mercyful Fate is not something I would be able to link back to the sound of Justify Rebellion, but Metallica and Volbeat definitely are omnipresent on “Unleashing The Beast”.

Omnipresent up to the point that it becomes almost embarrassing how vocalist/guitarist Lukas Rautenberg tries to get the James Hetfield timbre right on ‘Relentless War’ – and how the band all together tries to copy the Volbeat song pattern on ‘Ancient Pharaoh’.

The end result is an album that does not manage to convince me to listen to it again and again but rather makes me grab back to the originals as …. they are far better. Additional info at: https://www.facebook.com/JustifyRebellion/

My rating: 50/100 (Bad, substandard)
